When you come to see us at our shop we are always pleased to show you around. The first stop is always the"> Rope Room">.
Then Lynn finishes the tour showing you how she"> makes a hammock.
A pictorial tour:
First braid the rope in the Rope Room.
Then, cut, drill, and oil the spreader bars. We use these to keep the hammock spread out and comfortable.
Wind the rope onto a shuttle at the shuttle winding station. The rope must be continuous - you don't want knots in your hammock.
Weave the hammock bed, attaching it to a rope chain on each side and weaving back and forth in a pattern of loops.
Cut the right lengths of rope for the harness and be sure to keep them organized in the length separator!
Tie and knot the harness at the harness making station. Each hammock has two harnesses that you use to hang the hammock.
Here Lynn is balancing the spreader bar in the harness at the balance station. This is a really important step that keeps your hammock lying flat.
Lastly, the harness is attached to the hammock bed at the hammock tying station.
And here you have it,
your very own Bay Hammocks hammock.
