Hammock Use and Care
|
 |
|
SAFTY FIRST:
- Do not jump up
and down in the hammock and do not use it as a playground swing. Children
have been known to use the hammock for a trampoline or try to swing the
hammock off its hooks. This is very dangerous and not the intended use of
your hammock. It will also cause excessive wear and tear on the hammock
and mounting hardware. Children
should always be supervised when playing in the hammock Do not have infants in the
hammock.
- Maximum safe weight for your
hammock is;NYLON: extra large or double: 600 lbs, single: 500 lbs., OLEFIN: extra large; 450 lbs, double or single: 400 lbs., POLYESTER NET: extra large: 350 lbs, single: 300 lbs., SUNBRELLA and CANVAS: 300 lbs., PARACHUTE NYLON: 350 lbs.
- When you hang your hammock, be
certain it is situated so the angle of the hammock, when someone is lying
in it, will not exceed 25 degrees.
- Always place your weight in the
center of the hammock. Do not sit on the edge.
HANGING TIPS:
- We recommend the use of a hammock
hanging kit which you can purchase from us. This kit is especially designed to protect your trees.
- If you want to use chain and
hooks you will need to purchase (be sure everything is strong enough for
the job): 2 tree hooks, 2 S hooks, and 2 chain pieces, each about about 1 foot long
- First determine where you would
like to hang your hammock. You may hang it between two trees, on your
porch, on your especially purchased hammock stand, some people even hang
them in their home. Wherever you choose the space should be at least 18 to
20 inches longer than the overall length of your hammock and wide enough
to allow the hammock to sway back and forth.
- If you are installing the
hammock on a wooden surface which will hold a tree hook make sure that it
is at least 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter and that the wood is strong
enough to hold the tree hook – hardwood trees are best. If using our
hammock hanging kit follow the instructions that are packaged with it.
CARE OF YOUR
HAMMOCK:
- When you hang your hammock for
the first time, the weave may appear pulled of uneven. This is normal.
Give the hammock a good shake from one side and it should straighten out.
It also may appear short when you first open it. This too is normal. The
rope will stretch to the correct length as it is used. You may also need
to adjust your hanging strap from time to time as the hammock stretches
with use.
- Store your hammock in a cool,
dry place. Be sure it is not wet or damp when stored – if it is wet, air
dry it before storage.
- If you clean
your hammock, lay it on a flat, clean, non-abrasive surface. Wet it down
with a hose and use a soft brush or cloth and a mild solution of soap and
water. Rinse well and allow it to dry. Do not use bleach or strong chemicals.
CARE OF YOUR
PILLOW:
- Your pillow is made of
Sunbrella@ fabric and stuffed with 100% polyester batting. It is meant to
be weather proof and resist fading. However, it is a good idea to bring it
inside during extreme weather.
- To clean swish it in a soapy solution of
liquid dishwashing soap and warm water. Rinse well with clean water to
remove the soap, and let air dry.
